Written Examination Regulations for Candidates
IMPORTANT NOTICES
These instructions are issued in accordance with JCQ regulations. By attending your examination, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to comply with all rules. Failure to comply may result in penalties, including disqualification.
1. BEFORE THE EXAMINATION
1.1 Statement of Entry
You will receive/received a Statement of Entry issued by the awarding body.
You MUST check:
– Your full legal name (must match your ID exactly)
– Subjects and exam boards
– Paper codes and tiers
– Dates and times of all exams
If any information is incorrect:
– Inform the exams office immediately (exams@londonptcollege.ac.uk)
– Late corrections may not be possible
– Additional fees may apply
The centre is not responsible for errors that are not reported before the deadlines.
1.2 Examination Timings
– Morning exams start at 9:30 AM
– Afternoon exams start at 1:00 PM
Examination venue: London PT College, Unit 4, Westmoreland House, Cumberland Park, London NW10 6RE.
You must:
– Arrive at least 15 minutes early
– Attend ID checks at:
• 9:00 AM (morning)
• 12:30 PM (afternoon)
Late arrival may result in:
– Delay in entry
– Reporting to the exam board
– Refusal of entry
1.3 Identification
You must bring a valid photo ID:
– Passport
– Driving licence
– National ID
If you do not bring ID:
– You will NOT be allowed to sit the exam
1.4 Late Arrival
If you arrive late:
– You may still be allowed to sit the exam at the centre’s discretion
– The awarding body will be notified
– You may receive no marks for the paper
If you arrive more than 1 hour late:
– You will NOT be permitted entry
1.5 Travel and Planning
Candidates must:
– Plan journey in advance
– Allow extra time for delays
– Check transport schedules
The centre is not responsible for:
– Traffic delays
– Public transport issues
– Personal scheduling errors
1.6 If You Are Unwell
Before the exam:
– Contact the centre immediately
– Do not attend if seriously unwell
After the exam:
– You may apply for special consideration
– Medical evidence will be required
1.7 Emergency Contact
You must provide a valid phone number.
The centre may contact you if:
– You are absent
– You are late
– There is an emergency
2. ITEMS – WHAT TO BRING / NOT BRING
2.1 Required Items
– Black pens (bring spares)
– Calculator (if allowed), Calculator lids must be removed and stored in your bag. They are not permitted on desks
– Required texts (clean, no notes)
– Transparent water bottle (no label)
The centre does NOT provide:
– Calculators
– Stationery
– Books
2.2 Calculator Rules:
There is no fixed list of approved models.
However, calculators must:
– Not connected to the internet
– Do not communicate with other devices
– Not store text, notes, or formulae
The centre reserves the right to:
– Inspect calculators
– Confiscate non-compliant devices
– Refuse use of suspicious devices
2.3 Prohibited Items
You must NOT bring:
– Mobile phones
– Smartwatches
– Notes or revision materials
– Bags at desks
If found:
– Item will be confiscated
– May be reported as malpractice
2.4 Additional Rules
– Pencil cases must be transparent
– No labels on bottles
– No food unless medically approved
– No sharing any items
3. ENTERING THE EXAM ROOM
– Follow instructions from staff
– Check your seat number
– Sit quietly
– Do not open the paper
Failure to follow instructions may result in removal.
4. DURING THE EXAMINATION
4.1 Behaviour
You must:
– Remain silent
– Follow all instructions
– Focus on your own work
4.2 Prohibited Behaviour
You must NOT:
– Talk to others
– Look at another candidate’s work
– Signal or communicate
4.3 Leaving the Room
Not allowed:
– First hour
– Final 15 minutes
Listening exams:
– No leaving at any time
4.4 Toilet Breaks
– Allowed only after the first hour
– Must be escorted
4.5 Assistance
Raise your hand if needed.
Invigilators cannot:
– Explain questions
– Provide hints
4.6 Rough Work
– Must be done in a booklet
– Must be crossed out
5. END OF EXAMINATION
– Stop writing immediately
– Remain seated until told
– Leave quietly
– Stay silent until outside
6. AFTER THE EXAM
– Do not discuss the paper near the exam area
– Do not communicate with candidates still sitting
7. GENERAL INFORMATION
Parents: Not allowed on site
Parking: Not available, however, limited paid street parking is available
8. RESPONSIBILITY
Candidates are responsible for:
– Arriving on time
– Bringing the correct materials
– Following all rules
The centre is not responsible for:
– Missed exams
– Lost items
– Candidate errors
